's time we get a break. first you had superstorm sandy, then the nor'easter and seriously cold temps. gary mcgrady is with us. so, gary are let's hope some warm weather is sticking around.a while. >> will, today we were up to 58 degrees. we're into the 60s for the weekend and at least on monday. it will get cooler after monday. right now, though, we look at satellite picture. it's all fair out there. there are some showers coming into northwestern ohio right now, all indications are that's going to weaken and dissipate. we may see a few high and midlevel clouds early tomorrow morning. the plan for the weekend is this ridge of high pressure really will kind of pump up through the area and keep us protected. that will keep most of the cloud cover going north of us. any chance of rain going to the north of us and maybe more importantly, it will bring in these southerly winds. it will help get temperatures back up to the mild category. i think we're probably going to be up into the middle 60s tomorrow and as we start getting into sunday, we're talking the upper 60s. it would not surprise me on

and it has been so cold all week. i'm looking forward to the weekend. >> since sandy went through, our temperatures have been above average and finally made to 60 degrees yesterday and that's the trend for the weekend, not a chilly. that won't last forever but it's landing on the weekend which is a good thing. to get the warmerir in here, we really have to have a warm front come in and that's the process going to right now. you can see on the radar, don't be put off by this. at the moment, clear skies, crescent moon out there this morning up in the eastern sky. the moon has been rising for the past few hours. but we do have with this warm front and warmer air coming in from the west, a little bit of cloud and shower activity. it's almost just sprinkles in the mountains of pennsylvania going through johnstown right now, moving in our direction. we could see a few clouds this morning and maybe a sprinkle or brief shower but basically the weekend forecast is a good one and i'll have details coming up in a couple of minutes. >> a bombshell resignation washington is our big story this morni

crisis across the northeast, of course, as gas becomes scarce after sandy and folks begged for help in places like staten island. and we're going to get all of that to you in a moment. first, i want to tell you this. the reports that got the attention of the american public, american voters, and the spin teams as well. from both campaigns, as a matter of fact. now, that would be these numbers you're looking at right now. that's the jobs numbers here. they are stronger than expected. i want you to take a look. the u.s. added 171,000 jobs last month. but, you know, i must emphasize this, the unemployment rate inched up .1%. that's 7.9%. the numbers are on your screen. so more jobs than expected, but a higher rate of unemployment. both campaigns have something to chew on right now and chew they did, of course. here is mitt romney. >> he said he was going to lower the unemployment rate, down to 5.2% right now. today we learned that it is actually 7.9% and that's 9 million jobs short of what he promised. unemployment is higher today than when barack obama took office. >> now, as you migh

for first time unemployment claims. labor department warns the figures were distorted by superstorm sandy. applications declining in one state because the unemployment office lost power during the storm. sandy pushing up applications in other states because those temporarily out of work sought benefits. martha: you may see some people getting jobs as rebuilding begins on the northeast. here is little perspective on the number since december 2007. here is the chart we look at. weekly jobless claims stayed above 300,000. they spiked back in 2009. we're a long way from that number. economists say weekly claims must consistently fall below 375,000. that is shown by yellow line. we've been bumping along it for a long time. to indicate the job market is truly strong enough to move the economy in the right direction to change the overall unemployment number. lately weekly jobless claims have dipped below the line, averaging 372,000 a week this year. this is the fourth time the claims have been under 360 in the past 4 1/2 years. overall, 5 million americans are collected unemployment benefits. th

will start to give states like ohio coverage. now to the aftermath of the superstorm sandy. and the newly canceled new york city marathon. dozens of generators, warm blankets, and food were reportedly left sitting there in central park, helping no one. this is happening when storm victims were reportedly freezing and going hungry. trace gallagher has an update. reporter: part of bloomberg's reason to go through with the new york city marathon, people complained that it would divert resources from those who desperately need them. when the race was canceled, the supplies -- they just sat there. they are still sitting there. not just the badly needed generators, but tens of thousands of mylar space wickens, jackets, bottled water that is desperately needed in a lot of areas. security crew say the reason the supplies cannot be moved is because there was an impromptu race that they could not push the runners out of the way there. the race organizers have not officially said why the supplies have not moved. we e-mail the mayor's office and no response on that. but the city did say that some of
